Discover the future of astronomy with hands-on activities and interactive experiences from the team behind one of the world's most advanced telescopes- the Giant Magellan Telescope.
Giant Magellan Telescope is the work of the GMTO Corporation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and international research consortium headquartered in Pasadena, California with offices in Santiago, Chile. Our mission is to design, build, and operate the Giant Magellan Telescope to enable cutting-edge research and scientific observations that will revolutionize humanity’s fundamental understanding of the Universe. The 30-meter-class telescope is under construction at Las Campanas Observatory in Chile’s Atacama Desert, one of the best locations on Earth to explore the heavens. When complete in the early 2030s, the “extremely large telescope” will be the largest public-private funded science project in history.
