For makers, what inspired you to make this project?
The robot I made was based on ROBO-ONE, a Japanese robotics martial arts competition that has been running since at least the mid-2000's. I watched a championship match back in 2014 and thought it was super cool. I was thinking, "one day I'm going to Japan and bring a robot of my own". I finally got around to doing it when I was feeling down and demotivated last year, and it has been a very rewarding experience for me mentally and intellectually, even though I got wiped by students from Hong Kong who were half my age!

I've recently picked this project back up and want to iterate and use it to advance my own knowledge and skillsets in robotics, but I also want to spread the joy of robotics with others, hence why I've chosen to apply to exhibit for the LA Maker Faire.
