USC Makers is a student-run engineering organization focused on hands-on, team-based design projects. Members work in small teams of about 5–6 students to design and build creative engineering systems over the course of the year. The group brings together students with different technical backgrounds who collaborate on hardware, software, and mechanical components. Teams divide responsibilities based on individual strengths while working together to complete a shared project. USC Makers emphasizes practical learning, creativity, and collaboration through real-world engineering experience.

What inspired you to make this project?
This project was inspired by my love of skateboarding and the experience of getting around campus in a fast and fun way. Riding a skateboard made me think about how everyday transportation could be made smarter and more interactive through engineering. I wanted to turn something simple and familiar into a creative project that combines technology with personal mobility. The idea grew from imagining a device that could make getting around campus easier while also being exciting to build and experiment with. I was especially motivated by the opportunity to design something hands-on that connects real-world use with engineering creativity. Overall, this project reflects both my interest in building innovative systems and my enthusiasm for rethinking how we move through everyday spaces.
